CHARLES HAINSWORTH was a third-generation member of the Hainsworth
family, who were very active in Camden's civic and political life from
the 1910s to the mid-1980s. Grandfather John
James Hainsworth was a Democrat political leader in the old Eighth
Ward and a power in the city Democrat organization. Father John
James Hainsworth Jr., better known as J.
James Hainsworth or "Big Jim" Hainsworth, served two terms
as as Camden County's shriff and held many other posts over his long
career. His brother, J. James "Jim" Hainsworth was active
politically in Camden and in Haddon Heights, and a first cousin, James
R. Asher served for many years as a member of the Camden Fire
serving for three and one-half years with the United States
Marine Corps during the Korean War, Joseph C. Hainsworth
to the Camden Police Department. He was promoted to detective in
1958, to sergeant in 1964, to lieutenant in 1969, and to Captain
in 1971. He retired in 1985. He had been in command of the
Police Department's support service division.
C. Hainsworth passed away on December 25, 1991, survived by his
wife Norma June and daughters Stephanie and Nicole.
